Dr. Adrain Johnson is Hearne ISD’s Superintendent of Schools and has held the role in several districts. Known for improving student outcomes in districts with underserved student populations, he improves disctricts to meet, and exceed, state standards academically, and implements evidenced-based programs to sustain success. Dr. Johnson has passed bond referendums and assisted districts in the accreditation process. He lead innovation and “next practices” at local, state, and national levels and built a network of partnerships with districts and higher education that supports district efforts. Hearne ISD’s continued involvement in this process resulted in an improved rating for academic accountability and raised TEA status to “Accredited.”
Dr. Johnson is a sought after, motivational speaker and a keynote for a variety of functions including TASA Mid-Winter and the UT/TASA Conference. He is affiliated with the Texas Association of School Administrators and American Association of School Administrators. His 40+ years in education at campus and district levels includes roles as teacher, principal, Area Superintendent, Superintendent, and Associate Commissioner for Accreditation for the Texas Education Agency with supervision over the Charter School Division. He has served as the University Interscholastic League Legislative Council Member at Large and on the Texas Education Agency’s Accountability System Committee.
Dr. Johnson is a 1973 Frost High School graduate, received his Associate’s Degree from Navarro College in 1975, holds a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education and Masters of Education from Tarleton State University, and a Doctorate of Education in Educational Administration from Baylor University.
