Drug Free Schools and Communities Act (DFSCA)
The Drug-Free Schools and Communities Act and Drug and Alcohol Abuse Prevention Regulations require an institution of higher learning to adopt and implement an Alcohol and Other Drugs (AOD) prevention program for students and employees to prevent unlawful possession, use, or distribution of illicit drugs and alcohol.
The following criteria must be met in order to comply with these regulations:
- Notify each employee and student annually, in writing, of standards of conduct, description
of appropriate sanctions for violations of federal, state, and local law, and campus
policy, description of the health risks associated with alcohol and drug use and a
description of available treatment programs and resources.
- Develop a sound method for distributing annual notifications to every student and
staff member annually.
- Prepare a biennial report on the effectiveness of its AOD program(s) and the consistency
of policy enforcement.
The biennial review is being completed in order to evaluate and formulate effective, successful and consistent AOD prevention procedures and programs for Navarro College.
