      THEA IBT (Internet Based Test)

The THEA Test consists of three sections: Reading, Mathematics, and Writing. Each section of the THEA Test is designed to measure a student’s academic skill against an established standard of competence. A student’s score on each section of the test is based on his or her performance in relation to the skills being tested. Scores are not related to how well other students have performed on the same section.

      TEST FEES AND PAYMENT POLICIES

      TEST FEE $29
THEA IBT test fees may be paid using a Visa or MasterCard, or with an Authorization Code provided by your school. The test center where you schedule your test appointment may charge additional administration fees. It is your responsibility to clarify test administration fees and policies with the test center directly.

      PAYMENT METHODS

The fees for THEA IBT are payable using an Authorization Code provided by your institution, using a credit card (VISA or MasterCard only), or using a debit or check card that carries the VISA or MasterCard logo and that can be used without the entry of a personal identification number (PIN). Bank cards without a VISA or MasterCard logo cannot be accepted. The merchant name that will appear on your credit card statement is “Internet Testing Systems.”

Payment by credit card. If you are paying by credit card, you may pay the test fee during your registration online or when you arrive at the test center on the day of the test.

If you pay by credit card during online registration, a confirmation e-mail will be sent to the e-mail address you submitted when you created your profile. In the event that the confirmation e-mail is blocked by a spam filter, you may be able to find the e-mail in your “Junk” folder. You may also access your account at http://THEA.starttest.com, select “Order History,” and print out your order detail. This information may be used as proof of payment at the test center when scheduling your appointment to test. Remember to bring your confirmation e-mail with you to the test center.

      EXAMINEE SCORE REPORT

In most cases, your score report will be available once your writing sample is scored, which may take up to 10 minutes. You may access your score report from any computer with Internet access by logging in to your account at http://thea.starttest.com.

Automatic scoring of your writing sample may not be possible if the writing sample is too short and/or off topic. If your writing sample cannot be automatically scored, it may take up to two business days for your score report to become available.

SCORE REPORTS TO INSTITUTIONS OR TEXAS EDUCATION AGENCY (TEA)

Test results will be reported automatically to the institution where you took your test. If you need your test results reported to additional institutions or the Texas Education Agency (TEA), you may request that a copy be sent by submitting a completed Test Results Request Form. The fee for a copy of your test results is $15 per copy. Enclose a money order or cashier’s check for the appropriate amount payable to Evaluation Systems. Do not send cash. Please allow two to four weeks from receipt of your request for delivery of your scores.

      SCORE REPORTS TO INSTITUTIONS

Score reports will be sent through the electronic THEA Test Score Distribution System to each of the institutions you select during registration, in addition to the institution at which you take the test.

Test scores may be distributed by the registrar to faculty and staff at the institutions for use in advising, placing, and monitoring student progress in accordance with institutional policies. An institution will accept as proof of your test scores only reports that it receives directly from Evaluation Systems, whether requested by you or by the institution itself. The score report that you receive will not be accepted by the institution as proof of your test scores.
